Class Name: Yang/Yin Yoga

Dates: Wednesdays, 12-1pm, March 31 – April 21, 2021

Class Description: Yang/Yin is a style of yoga that combines two “opposite” energies. Class will begin with a heat-building flow where you will move through postures that are designed to strengthen the body (Yang). The last half of the class will move you into stillness, holding postures for a longer period of time in order to access the deep connective tissues and fascia in the body (Yin). This is a popular style of class that brings together what Sarah calls “the best of both worlds”. Walk away feeling refreshed, energized, and grounded. All levels welcome.

Teacher Bio

Sarah Kraatz has been practicing yoga since 2009. Her practice originally began with a rigorous practice of Bikram Yoga in her hometown of Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario. She soon discovered the many different forms that yoga can take, and went to any style of class that she could. After falling in love with all forms of this dynamic practice and wanting to share her deep passion with others, she completed her 200hr certification with Pranalife Yoga in 2015.

Since graduating, her passion has expanded to include all styles of movement. Always learning, she became certified to teach BlissBarre and Pilates in 2018. She loves to add variety to her classes incorporating all the moves she loves, including strength building, functional mobility and even a little pilates. You can expect to have fun in her classes with playful creative sequencing, gentle intuitive movements, and of course a good challenge!

As much as she loves the physical benefits of yoga, Sarah believes that it is first and foremost a practice of the mind. She has experienced this first-hand with personal struggles through anxiety and depression. She is a firm believer in the power of mindfulness and meditation, and that the practice of yoga is a tool for self-care. Coming from a family with a long history of mental illness has allowed her to become a huge advocate for mental health awareness, and she hopes to convey that to those that practice with her.

Sarah’s other great loves include trying new recipes with her partner, going on hikes with her rescue dog, reading Harry Potter, and snacking on popcorn! She is excited to explore her new home on Bowen Island and connect with all the friendly people who live here.
